WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE - CAKE SMASH
“Oh, please don't go—we'll eat you up—we love you so."
I have had the opportunity to capture all the big moments in this little boys life so far. From maternity photos, birth photos, newborn, family, and first birthday. I may be slightly biased because he is my nephew, but come on?! How cute is he?
Photographing the cake smash wasn't just about getting the perfect photo. I was able to tell my littlest clients story of his first birthday celebrations.
It's not just about making a mess out of the cake. There is an entire story that unfolds when you place a cake in front of a baby.
I got to start by capturing the details of the set up, the details like in the way the book starts off the story, “There should be a place where only the things you want to happen, happen” The perfection before the mess.
From there, it was my favorite part. Watching the story unfold. “And now, let the wild rumpus start!" I got to capture the frosting on his feet, the little pieces of cake my brother and sister-in-law were trying to shove in his mouth. And the pouting lip and tears from him totally not digging it.
And then the story comes to an end. "Then from far away across the world he smelled good things to eat, so he gave up being king of the wild things.” And look at how happy he is with his big cousin. The smiles we were looking for the entire session.
